Green hydrogen plant in Százhalombatta

MOL and Plug Power is building a new green hydrogen plant in Százhalombatta in frames of a 22 million Euro worth investment. The size of the plant will be outstanding even on European level; the construction works of which are planned to be finished by 2023.

The establishment will replace a part of the currently used, gas-based manufacturing procedure, thus decreasing the CO2 emission level of MOL by 25,000 tons. The new plant will facilitate the production of 1,600 tons of green hydrogen, using the electricity stemming from renewable resources – during the process no greenhouse gas will be generated. MOL spends half of its investment expenditures on sustainable projects with the aim of reaching carbon-neutrality by 2050.
