The Hungarian scientific and innovation palette has been enriched with an important milestone!
On May 16th, 2024, the Energy Innovation Test Station of University of Szeged was ceremonially inaugurated.
According to Prof. Dr. Zoltán Kónya, SZTE Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovation, the test station is a significant success. Prof. Dr. Gábor Szabó, chairman of the SZTE Board of Trustees, called the test station the flagship project of the university. In his speech, Minister of Energy Csaba Lantos highlighted the importance of the test station's technological solution in achieving climate policy goals. In his presentation, László Bódis, Deputy State Secretary Responsible for Innovation, called the test station a model project of the Neumann János Program. Then Dr. Csaba Janáky, professional leader of the project, held a presentation on green energy and presented the Energy Innovation Test Station.
After that, the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between MOL and University of Szeged was signed, which aims to investigate the production and the possibilities of artificial aviation fuel (synthetic kerosene). Doing so from the technological and technoeconomic side as well.
Later, the test station was inaugurated ceremonially, with ribbon cutting and plaque inauguration. During the tour given by the leading researchers of the project, the participants of the event had the opportunity to get to know the different parts of the test station: solar park, power-to-gas and power-to-liquid containers.
The test station was implemented with the financing of the "Supplementation of the renewable electricity production of the Bükkábrányi solar power plant with innovative energy storage technology", the "National Laboratory for Renewable Energy" and the "Development and validation of synthetic fuels in a corporate environment".
