What has the NLRE provided? I.

Bakk Teodóra Diána, a member of the Fuel Cell Research Group at the University of Pécs, participating in the National Laboratory for Renewable Energy (NLRE) project, shares her insights.

Within the framework of NLRE, the research group expanded its activities in new directions. In addition to hydrogen technology developments, a significant focus was placed on research into oxygen-based wastewater treatment solutions, as well as the preparation of guidelines supporting fuel cell recycling and associated life-cycle assessments (LCA). The group also actively collaborated with the economic researchers at University of Pécs on hydrogen infrastructure modeling and established a broad network of industrial contacts in both education and research & development.

A multi-purpose hydrogen infrastructure planning and modeling system was developed, enabling coordinated evaluation of technical and economic aspects. The research group designed a demonstration prototype showcasing the use of oxygen in wastewater treatment, and initiated diagnostic studies on fuel cells. The group also completed the life-cycle assessment of fuel cells to support further technology development and sustainable recycling.
