The White Paper entitled "Carbon Dioxide Storage and Utilization (CCS/CCU) Options in Hungary" was prepared in the project of the National Laboratory for Renewable Energy (Megújuló Energiák Nemzeti Laboratórium, MENL), in cooperation with the SZTE Greennovation Center and IFUA Horváth & Partners Kft. The White Paper, as a foundational document often used in the law and strategy-making processes in the European Union, usually reflects on global problems, the management of which requires a unified and coordinated (often international) action plan. This White Paper covers the topic of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCU/S) technologies, and its primary goal is to establish the professional foundation of the domestic CCU/S industry. Moreover, the document can serve as a starting point for the more effective integration of CCU/S technologies into the national energy and climate strategies, and it can also help economic actors to develop the most suitable decarbonization strategy for them. Since CCU/S technologies are included in the decarbonization options alongside other solutions of different types, maturity levels and deployment levels, their application takes place in a rather complex environment from technological, economic and legal points of view.
