What has the NLRE provided? X.

Dr. András Sápi, the leader of the Green Catalysis Group at the University of Szeged, participating in the National Laboratory for Renewable Energy (NLRE) project, shares his insights.

The support of the NLRE project played a key role for the research group: it made the development of fuel production from carbon dioxide possible. Thanks to the support, new domestic and international collaborations were established. In addition, the research, material, equipment and human capacity background was built, which contributed to the realization of the ton/year synthetic fuel, i.e. e-fuel production capacity – achieved at the Energy Innovation Test Station of the University of Szeged (SZTE EIT). Compared to the laboratory capacity (a few milliliters per day), this is a huge step forward!

The group’s most important result achieved in the project is the establishment of a Technology Readiness Level 4 (TRL 4) e-fuel test station, where experimental production is carried out. Thanks to this production, industrial collaborations were established, and due to laboratory developments, high-quality international publications were published, strengthening the scientific and innovation position of the research group.
