What has the NLRE provided? XIII.

Dr. Norbert Miskolczi, head of research group at the MOL Department of Hydrocarbon and Coal Processing, University of Pannonia, shares his insights on the National Laboratory for Renewable Energy (NLRE) project.

The project enabled talented young students and researchers to participate in studies of significant international interest. This not only supported the training of the next generation of scientists and the promotion of research activities, but also contributed to the international visibility of the results, the establishment of new collaborations with Hungarian and international partners, and the foundation of future research proposals.

The research group achieved remarkable results in the field of hydrogen production from waste. They optimized process parameters and developed new catalysts that maximize hydrogen and syngas yields for specific waste types.

The group’s results have been published in several international journals:

In addition, the researchers developed adsorbents produced from waste in order to capture CO₂, which proved to be highly effective in cyclic testing [Carbon Capture Science & Technology (2025): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ccst.2024.100332].
